F1 Standings 2026: Which is the State of Championship before Japan?

Following a breathtaking season opening opener in Australia, George Russell (Mercedes) is at the top of F1 standings 2026 and was in the lead to the chequered flag through pole position. His teammate Kimi Antonelli came second and thereby giving Mercedes the overall early lead in constructors championship with 43 points.

Ferrari had the top four in Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton, followed by Lando Norris (McLaren) and Max Verstappen (Red Bull) in fifth and sixth position respectively. Canadian Lance Stroll (Aston Martin) did not even score any points in Australia following a problem with reliability, and comes to Japan hoping to rebound the season.

Best favourites in the F1 Japan 2026 Race

According to the current F1 standings and the nature of the Suzuka circuit, the following are the best competitors entering into the Japanese Grand Prix:

  • George Russell (Mercedes) — Merchandise, and the fellow in the quickest car. The halting and sharp driving of Russell is made to fit Suzuka. He is the transparent favourite to increase his lead.
  • Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) — Ferrari demonstrated a good pace in the race in Australia despite a mistake in a strategy. Leclerc is a specialist in Suzuka, and he is a real threat to win.
  • Lando Norris (McLaren) — The 2025 world champion of McLaren comes to win. McLaren has not been doing well in comparison to Mercedes in Australia but Norris cannot be underestimated.
  • Max Verstappen (Red Bull) — Started the race at the 20 th position and managed to take sixth place in Australia. Verstappen is never safe in Japan should Red Bull manage to get qualifying pace.
  • Lance Stroll (Aston Martin) – Canada has one of the unlucky drivers in Formula 1 but a home-crowd -like welcome by the Canadian fans makes every race of Stroll worth viewing. Aston Martin would be making a giant leap by getting a points finish in Japan.

One of the most popular sports among the Canadian punters is Formula 1 and the Japanese Grand Prix provides lucrative markets. According to the existing sportsbook lines:

  • George Russell- Race favourite at around +150-175. His logical choice is due to the fact that Mercedes is dominating in Australia.
  • Charles Leclerc – Second favourite at approximately +220, is a good value considering the pace at which Ferrari was in the race.
  • Lando Norris — +300 (which can be bought at around +300) is a firm each-way bet in case McLaren manages to bridge the gap.
  • Max Verstappen -Betting +350 to +400 to win the race; strong potential should Red Bull qualify near the top.
  • Lance Stroll (Top 10 finish) A very theoretical and emotionally charged bet among the Canadian fans at +180 to +200 to finish with points.

In the F1 standings championship outright, Russell is the favourite at 9/4, Verstappen is the 3/1 favourite, and Leclerc is a 9/2 favourite, all of which are found on the larger Canadian sportsbooks.
